Toastmasters International is the largest educational self-help organization in the world. It has over 200,000 members in more 10,000 clubs in about 200 countries. Membership helps other members to be better speakers, listeners and leaders through a planned program based on a self-paced curriculum that relies on learning by doing and positive reinforcement. How often does it meet?
The South shore Toastmasters Club meets at 9:30 a.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. The meeting ends around 11:15 a.m. There is no penalty for missing a meeting except for the knowledge you'll miss by not being there.
How much does it cost?

How can Toastmasters assist my networking and marketing goals for my private practice?
No matter what your business, communications is key to your success. It is the primary ingredient in networking which is essential for a business. With the speaking, listeneing and leadership skills you learn in Toastmasters, your networking efforts will be much more effective.
Will it give me tools necessary to build exposure for my small business?
IIt is amazing how many toastmasters are entrepreneurs and owners of small businesses. No company, large or small, can exist without sales, and selling requires good communications. These members have learned that selling skills are primarily about getting your ideas across in a succinct and clear mananer - a skill learned at our meetings. Managing people also requires the same skills, so it follows that you will become a better manager with this training. What can Toastmasters do for me?
That is a very interesting question. We think that it can only be answered by your answer to this question. What do you want from Toastmasters? For some, it will be added confidence in day to day conversations, an ability to listen carefully and respond reasonably in a timely manner. For others, it will be establishing a leadership style that will assist them in succeeding at whatever they try. This program has proven to be successful to those who are willing to expend the effort to learn and assimilate new ways of doing things. it is also an excellent way for people who already have good communication skills to make them better. Whether you're a professional, student, stay-at-home parent or retiree, Toastmasters is the best way to improve your communication skills. Toastmasters can help you lose the fear of public speaking and learn skills that will help you be more successful in whatever path you've chosen. You'll be a better listener. You'll easily lead teams and conduct meetings. You'll comfortably give and receive constructive evaluation. You already have some or all of the skills. In Toastmasters, you will enhance them.
How does Toastmasters work?
At Toastmasters, members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment. A typical Toastmasters club is 20 to 30 people who meet once a week for one to two hours. Each meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice: Conducting meetings. Meetings usually begin with a short business session which help members learn basic meeting procedures. Giving impromptu speeches. Members present one to two-minute impromptu responses to questions which train you to "think on your feet". Presenting prepared speeches. Three or more members present speeches based on projects from the Toastmasters International Communication and Leadership program manuals. projects cover such topics as speech organization, voice, language, gestures and persuation. Offering constructive evaluation. You'll learn powerful listening skills by evaluating others. Every prepared speech presenter is assigned an evaluator who points out speech strengths and offers suggestions for improvement.
What tools do Toastmasters use? Upon joining a Toastmaster club, each new member receives manuals and resources on speaking as part of their original membership fee. Members also have access to other books as well as audio and video cassettes on speaking and leading. They also receive the award-winning monthly magazine "The Toastmaster", which offers the latest insights on speaking and leadership techniques. Who can join South Shore Toastmasters Club? South Shore Toastmasters Club is open to the public. We welcome all new members who are at least 18 years of age or older. Anyone from the Tampa Bay area (i.e. Tampa, Sun City Center, Apollo Beach, Ruskin, Riverview, Brandon, Valrico and Wimauma) is welcome to attend our meetings. |
