KUDOS
William N. Hodges, co-founder of South Shore Toastmasters, received the prestigious
Presidential Citation at the 77th Annual Convention in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in August.
The award was presented by International President, Chris Ford, DTM, in recognition of Bill's
outstanding achievements toward the goals and ideals of Toastmasters International. The
award is one of Toastmasters' highest honors. Congratulations Bill! We're proud to have
you as a member and leader of our club.
South Shore Toastmasters has once again attained the highly regarded President's Distinguised Club Award. This award is
given to clubs which reach specified goals. Only 10% of the International Clubs reach this status. Our young club
(only 4 years old) has reached this goal a third time! Quite an accomplishment! We're very proud of this achievement.
TOASTMASTERS REACH GOALS
Four South Shore Toastmasters were recognized during a recent club meeting for achieving
milestones. The awards earned were: Jeanette Doyle, Competent Toastmaster;
Phyllis Hodges and Francine Webb, Competent Leader and Advanced Communicator;
and Jan Diehl, Advanced Communicator.
The Competent Toastmaster award required completion of the basic 10-speech program;
the Advanced Communicator award required completion of two advanced programs of five
speeches each. To earn the Competent Leader award, members completed a leadership
training program which involved serving in various roles at club meetings.
